Mobility in Nowa Sarzyna, Poland

The fourth mobility of our project took place in Nowa Sarzyna, Poland, from 26th September to 30th September 2022. Students and teachers from the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, and Turkey visited the School Complex in Nowa Sarzyna.

Erasmus day 1

The first day of the mobility in Poland started with the greeting of the representatives of the partner schools and the presentation of the programme. This day was also devoted to the celebration of the European Day of Languages so all students from partner schools were invited to participate in language activities, games and trivia. Students also competed in an activity called Maths Escape Room. All the participants also took part in a meeting with the Polish Minister of Education. After the meeting at school, students and teachers went to Leżajsk where they visited the Bernardines monastery and the old market square.

Erasmus day 2

On the second day of the mobility students and teachers went to the former capital of Poland, Krakow. It is a city which is has been honoured with the UNESCO City of Literature title. Students and teachers visited the most popular sights of the city, e.g. the Wawel Castle, Vistula boulevards, Collegium Maius, the Main Square of the Old Town of Kraków, the, Saint Mary’s Basilica (Kościół Mariacki), Sukiennice (the Cloth Hall), and the Kosciuszko Mound.

Erasmus day 3

On the third day of the mobility students and teachers went on a trip to the town of Zamość, visited the Roztocze National Park and the town of Zwierzyniec. Students and teachers could trace examples of maths in nature while strolling in the park located upon the Wieprz river. They visited St. John Nepomucen’s church (also known as “the church on an island”), and the Education and Museum Centre of the Roztocze National Park in Zwierzyniec. Next, they visited the town of Zamość which is famous for the Zamość Fortress and unique 16th-century architecture of the Old Town, called the “pearl of the Renaissance”, inscribed on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Erasmus day 4

Thursday was filled with school activities. First, students took part in demonstrative lessons in an IT classroom (making geometric shapes in Scratch and 3D printing) and a robotics laboratory. There was also a game with elements of mathematics, with the use of maps and an electronic system of checkpoints ‘SportIdent’. The last school activity that day was the first part of the presentations of films and multimedia presentations created by students.
Before the meeting in Poland, each partner school had a task which involved creating four multimedia presentations or videos. The presentations included such topics as: „Mathematics and History”, “Mathematics in Architecture”, “Famous Mathematician from my country”, “Mathematician famous worldwide”.
In the afternoon, there was a trip to the capital of the Podkarpacie voivodship, the city of Rzeszów. Students and teachers visited the Market Square and some of the most popular landmarks of the city. In the evening, there was an official dinner for teachers and students with the ceremony of delivery of certificates.

Erasmus day 5

The last day of the mobility was devoted to school activities. There was the second part of the presentations of films and multimedia presentations created by students. All the teachers from partner schools had a meeting during which they summarized the mobility and made plans for the next one. The representatives of the partner schools departed from Nowa Sarzyna throughout the day.
